To all undergraduate and graduate students from ASEAN countries,


This fall, we hope you will participate in the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs' International Issues Presentation Contest to win the Foreign Minister's Prize and a trophy!


For many years, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has held a presentation contest for Japanese undergraduate and graduate students, but this year, for the first time, we are inviting students from ASEAN countries to participate. Take advantage of this first-ever & unique opportunity and aim for the prestigious "Minister of Foreign Affairs Award"!

The year 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, and the ASEAN-Japan Special Summit will be held in December this year. During this period, Japan and ASEAN have worked closely together for the sake of peace and stability, development and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region. For this reason, the theme of this year's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Presentation Contest will be "Our Future ASEAN-Japan Relations we aim to take on the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation".


We invite you to share your proposals for the future of ASEAN-Japan relations based on your broad positive opinions and forward-looking awareness of issues as a native of an ASEAN countries studying in Japan!

Language to be used is Japanese or English whichever you prefer and you are welcome to participate in the competition as a team with Japanese students.

The judging panel will consist of former Japanese diplomat (ambassador and university professor), prominent journalist, and executive of the ASEAN-Japan Centre, an international organization, who are experts on ASEAN-Japan relations. Press coverage during the contest and a reception with other students, and judging committee members after the event are also being considered.

The participants in the Contest will be introduced the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (either in Japanese and English)!
