About
The Otaru University of Commerce was reorganized as a university in May 1, 1949 by the national government and shifted in National University Corporation Otaru University of Commerce in April 2004. It was originally established as the Otaru Higher Commercial
School in March 1910 and has reached the present stage after many changes. The University traces a long history for more than
110 years since its foundation, during which it has contributed not only to the industrial circles but also to the advancement of the arts and sciences through its excellent teaching and research in these fields.
