Why Okayama University?

OKAYAMA UNIVERSITY (OU) is a national comprehensive university located in the western Japan. Established in 1870, OU has 10 faculties, 7 graduate schools and 4 research institutes with a total student enrollment of about 13,000. Among them, 964 international students from 61 different countries study at OU.
In addition, OU is recognized as one of the leading institutions to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2007, OU launched the only UNESCO Chair in Asia for the purpose of promoting UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Since then, OU and Okayama region have worked together for ESD in a multi-stakeholder partnership manner. With these achievements and reputations, OU was honored with the SDGs Partnership Award in the first Japan SDGs Awards in 2017 from the Government of Japan, which is a sole national or public university to receive the award.
Looking ahead, OU is laser-focused on fostering the leaders of tomorrow who will advance the global initiatives on sustainability and wellbeing of all.
