Opened in April 2010, the college's educational philosophy is based on "Respect, Love, and Trust," the founding spirit of Tomizawa Gakuen, an educational corporation with over 90 years of history and tradition. The college is located in the southern Yamagata area overlooking the Zao Mountain Range and Mt. Ryuzan.

The Faculty of Human Sciences has the Department of Child Education, where students learn widely and deeply in a variety of fields with the aim of becoming specialists in education and childcare. The Department of Child Education is characterized by its policy of focusing on collaborative education, including the connection between growth and development from infants to children and how to support them. In addition, the Department of Human Relations was established in April. In addition to specialized studies in the three courses of Glocal Communication, Comprehensive Psychology, and Welfare Management, the Department cultivates the ability to understand and care for others and to build better and richer human relationships.
