University Overview
Dokkyo Medical University (DMU) was established in 1973 on the basis of the academic
traditions of Dokkyo Gakuen. We strive to make great advances in medicine which
reflect our frontier spirit and international point of view. We are also
engaged in social services. We have a Graduate School of Medicine, Graduate
School of Nursing, School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and a Graduate
Program in Midwifery. In addition, there are three attached medical facilities
and two nursing schools affiliated to DMU. Within the vast campus, more than 1,800 medical and
nursing students are studying hard.
Overview of Graduate School of Medicine
In accordance with the school’s founding philosophy “character is developed
through learning”, the Graduate School of Medicine, Dokkyo Medical University
(Medical Research Section), develops researchers and physicians with excellent
knowledge, humanity, and with an international perspective, who contributes to
the progress of medicine over their lifetime utilizing advanced research
capabilities cultivated in their respective fields.Graduate School of Medicine, DMU consists of 44 major fields in 5 Divisions; Morphological
Science, Physiological Science, Social Medicine, Internal Medicine, and
Surgery. PhD (Medicine) will be awarded to those who have been enrolled in the Graduate School of
Medicine for at least 4 years, and have obtained more than 30 credits of
compulsory and elective subjects and who have received the essential research advice
from professors and have passed all of the dissertation examinations and the
final public examination by the chief examiner and assistant examiner.
