Founding spirit

Bunsei University of Art started in 1999 as a university with a completely new concept by expanding the art department of Utsunomiya Bunsei Junior College, which opened in April 1989. The founding spirit is defined as "the spirit of respect" rather than the educational spirit of the founder, Professor Anschau Ueno. Kei is a platform for the founder's educational practice that should not be taken formally and should permeate into life as an inner "way of mind".
The origin
of "Bunsei" is the constellation (6 stars) called Wenchang in Chinese
astronomy. This is because in the "History"
edited by Shiba Sen, the six stars that receive the star "Tokai",
which is the main star of the Big Dipper, are called Wenchang, and have been
worshiped as gods of learning and literature since ancient times.

Composition of Faculty of Fine Arts and Department of Fine Arts

The university is a single faculty / department of the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Department of Fine Arts, and consists of 10 fields of 3 majors: design major, manga major, and general modeling major. In the first semester of the first year, common basic subjects are the main subjects, and classes are held four days a week beyond the boundaries of the major. In the latter half of the 1st year, elective classes and classes by major are held, and from the 2nd year, classes by major are held the other day. In addition, when advancing to the second year, the aptitude of the major can be determined by oneself and the faculty member and the major can be changed by the "transfer major system".

From the second year onward, students who are recognized as having excellent academic performance, good behavior, and difficulty in paying tuition fees shall be paid a part of the tuition fees by the decision of the board of directors after deliberation by the faculty committee.
